Sessions & Laps
How to browse, filter, and explore your telemetry sessions and individual lap data.
The Sessions view is your entry point to telemetry analysis. Every iRacing session synced from Capture appears here, organized by date.
Sessions Table
The sessions table shows all your uploaded sessions with key information at a glance:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Date | When the session took place |
| Track | Circuit name and configuration |
| Car | Vehicle driven |
| Type | Practice, Qualifying, or Race |
| Laps | Number of completed laps |
| Best Lap | Fastest lap time in the session |
Filtering Sessions
Use the filters above the table to narrow down your data:
- Track — Filter by a specific circuit
- Car — Show only sessions with a particular car
- Date range — Focus on a specific time period
Sorting
Click any column header to sort by that field. Click again to reverse the order. This is useful for quickly finding your fastest sessions or most recent uploads.
Session Detail
Click on any session to open its detail view. Here you’ll find:
Lap Table
Every completed lap is listed with:
- Lap number — Sequential order in the session
- Lap time — Total lap duration
- Delta to best — Time difference compared to your best lap in the session
- Sector times — Timing splits across track sectors
- Valid — Whether the lap is clean (no off-tracks or incidents)
Session Metadata
The header area shows:
- Track name and configuration
- Car name
- Session type and date
- Total laps and session duration
- Best and average lap times
Selecting Laps for Analysis
From the session detail, you can:
- Click a lap to see its braking zone data
- Select multiple laps to compare them
- View the track map to see the racing line
Tips
- Focus on clean laps — Filter by valid laps to avoid skewed analysis
- Look for consistency — Small deltas between laps indicate consistent driving
- Use the best lap as reference — When comparing, your best lap is a natural benchmark
