Quick Start

Get up and running with Braking Lab in under 5 minutes.

This guide will help you start training in just a few minutes. Choose the path that fits your situation.

Prerequisites

Before you start, make sure you have:

  • A brake pedal connected to your computer
  • A modern web browser (Chrome or Edge recommended for best pedal support)

Step 1: Sign In (Optional)

Head to app.brakinglab.com. You can:

  • Create an account to sync your progress across devices and unlock all features
  • Use as guest to try the app immediately (data stored locally only)

Step 2: Connect Your Pedals

  1. Go to Settings > Hardware
  2. Click Connect Device
  3. Grant browser permission when prompted
  4. Press your brake pedal to verify it’s detected
  5. Run the calibration wizard for accurate readings

Step 3: Start Training

Option A: Built-in Exercises (Start Immediately)

Perfect for learning fundamentals without any setup:

  1. Go to the Practice page
  2. Choose an exercise type:
    • Hold Pressure - Maintain steady brake pressure at target levels
    • Trail Braking - Practice smooth brake release curves
    • Progressive - Build pressure smoothly and release
    • Threshold - Quick application, hold, and release
  3. Select difficulty and start practicing

For corner-specific training based on real lap data:

  1. Go to Lap Analysis > Import
  2. Import a CSV file from Garage61 or another telemetry source
  3. Select your imported lap
  4. Click on any braking zone to generate an exercise
  5. Practice that specific corner’s braking pattern

Step 4: Practice

Follow the on-screen feedback as you practice:

  • Visual overlay shows your input vs. the target
  • Audio feedback indicates if you’re on target, early, or late
  • Score tracks your accuracy in real-time
