Configure Braking Lab to match your preferences and hardware setup.

The Settings page lets you customize Braking Lab to match your hardware, preferences, and training style.

Accessing Settings

Open Settings from:

  • The gear icon in the top navigation
  • The user menu > Settings
  • Keyboard shortcut: Ctrl/Cmd + ,

Account Settings

Profile

Manage your account information:

  • Display Name - How you appear on leaderboards
  • Email - For account recovery and notifications
  • Profile Picture - Upload a custom avatar
  • Time Zone - For accurate schedule display

Subscription

View and manage your plan:

  • Current plan and features
  • Billing cycle and renewal date
  • Upgrade/downgrade options
  • Payment method management

Privacy

Control your data visibility:

Hardware Settings

Pedal Configuration

Connect and calibrate your brake pedal:

Connecting Your Pedals

  1. Go to Settings > Hardware > Pedals
  2. Click Connect Device
  3. Your browser will prompt for permission
  4. Grant access to your pedal (via Gamepad API)
  5. Test that input is recognized

Calibration

Calibrate for accurate readings:

  1. Click Start Calibration
  2. Press brake pedal fully and hold
  3. Release completely
  4. Set your preferred dead zones
  5. Confirm calibration

Display Settings

Optimize for your monitor:

  • Target Frame Rate - Match your display refresh
  • Reduce Motion - Minimize animations
  • High Contrast Mode - Enhanced visibility
  • Scale UI - Adjust interface size

Audio Settings

Master Volume

Control overall audio levels:

  • Master volume slider (0-100%)
  • Mute toggle
  • System integration (use OS volume)

Audio Feedback

Enable real-time audio feedback during exercises:

  • Enable Audio Feedback - Turn on pitch-based brake feedback
  • Base Frequency - Set the center tone pitch
  • Pitch Range - How much the pitch varies with accuracy
  • Sensitivity - How responsive the audio is to errors

Feedback Sounds

Configure exercise audio feedback:

  • Enable/Disable - Toggle audio feedback
  • Volume - Independent feedback volume
  • Sound Pack - Choose from available packs:
    • Classic (default)
    • Modern
    • Minimal
    • Custom (upload your own sounds)

Sound Types

Individual control for each sound:

Test Sounds

Preview sounds before using:

  • Click Test next to any sound
  • Adjust individual sound volumes
  • Ensure they’re distinguishable

Exercise Preferences

Default Difficulty

Set starting difficulty for new exercises:

  • Easy, Medium, Hard, or Custom
  • Remember per-track preferences
  • Suggest based on performance

Default Settings

Configure exercise defaults:

  • Default repetition count
  • Default feedback mode
  • Auto-advance between exercises
  • Session length preferences

Display Options

Customize the exercise interface:

  • Show/hide specific overlays
  • Reference line colors
  • Input visualization style
  • Timer display preferences

Connections

iRacing Account

Connect your iRacing account for schedule import and track data:

  • Connection status - Shows if connected or disconnected
  • Connect/Disconnect - Manage your iRacing OAuth connection
  • Last sync - When data was last updated
  • Auto-sync - Automatically update race schedule

  • Cloud vs. local storage
  • Clear cache options

Export & Backup

Download and backup your data:

  • Full account export (JSON format)
  • Progress data only
  • Settings backup
  • Import from backup file
  • Cloud sync status (registered users)
