iRacing Setup
Configure iRacing to export telemetry files so Braking Lab Capture can process your lap data.
Capture needs iRacing’s telemetry export enabled. This is a one-time setup that takes under a minute.
Enabling Automatic Telemetry
- Open iRacing and go to the main menu
- Navigate to Options
- Find the Misc section
- Look for “Save telemetry data to disk” or “Automatic Telemetry”
- Enable it (check the box or toggle it on)
- Click Apply or OK
That’s it. From now on, iRacing will save your telemetry after every session.
Verifying in Capture
Capture checks your iRacing configuration automatically during onboarding and shows a clear status:
- Green indicator — Everything is set up correctly
- Yellow warning — Telemetry folder found but export may not be enabled
- Red alert — iRacing installation not detected
You can also verify the detected telemetry path anytime in Settings > Telemetry Directory.
Common Issues
No Files Appearing
If Capture doesn’t detect any files after a session:
- Check telemetry is enabled in iRacing Options > Misc
- Complete a session — iRacing only saves the file when the session ends
- Restart Capture if needed — it will re-scan the telemetry folder
Wrong Folder Detected
If Capture points to the wrong directory:
- Ensure iRacing has been run at least once (it creates the default folder on first run)
- If you moved your Documents folder, iRacing may still use the original path
- Check iRacing’s settings for any custom telemetry path
Tips
- Leave telemetry enabled permanently — the files are small and Capture handles everything
- Run a short test session after enabling telemetry to verify files are being created
