iRacing Integration

Connect your iRacing account to import schedules, browse series, and access track data directly in Braking Lab.

Braking Lab integrates directly with iRacing, allowing you to import your race schedule, browse series, and access comprehensive track and car data without leaving the app.

Connecting Your iRacing Account

Authentication

Connect your iRacing account using secure OAuth authentication:

  1. Go to Settings > Connections
  2. Click Connect iRacing Account
  3. You’ll be redirected to iRacing’s login page
  4. Enter your iRacing credentials
  5. Authorize Braking Lab to access your data
  6. You’ll be redirected back to Braking Lab

What Braking Lab Can Access:

Security

  • Braking Lab never stores your iRacing password
  • OAuth tokens are encrypted and stored securely
  • You can revoke access at any time from Settings
  • Connection expires after 30 days (re-authorize when needed)

Importing Your Race Schedule

Automatic Import

Once connected, import your race schedule directly:

  1. Go to Race Schedule
  2. Click Import from iRacing
  3. Select the series you want to import
  4. Choose the time range (current week, next 2 weeks, full season)
  5. Click Import

What Gets Imported

For each race, the following information is imported:

  • Series name and category
  • Track and configuration
  • Race times in your local timezone
  • Session format (practice, qualifying, race lengths)
  • Car class eligible for the series
  • License requirements

Sync Options

Keep your schedule up to date:

  • Manual sync - Click refresh to update
  • Auto-sync on open - Update when you open Race Schedule
  • Background sync - Check for updates periodically

Browsing iRacing Series

Series Browser

Explore all available iRacing series:

  1. Go to iRacing Planner from the main menu
  2. Browse series by category (Road, Oval, Dirt Road, Dirt Oval)
  3. Filter by license class
  4. See current and upcoming tracks for each series

Series Information

Each series listing shows:

  • Series name and official/unofficial status
  • License class required
  • Current track and configuration
  • Next track for the following week
  • Race frequency (hourly, every 2 hours, etc.)
  • Typical participation levels

Find series that match your preferences:

Braking Lab includes comprehensive data for 425+ iRacing tracks:

  • Track layouts with all configurations
  • Corner reference points (braking zones, turn-in, apex, exit)
  • Track length and lap records
  • Surface type and characteristics

Interactive Track Maps

Access detailed SVG track maps for over 450 configurations:

  • Zoom and pan to explore track details
  • Corner markers with reference points
  • Racing line visualization
  • Sector boundaries

Car Database

Access information on 179+ iRacing cars:

  • Car specifications (power, weight, drivetrain)
  • Car class assignments (254 classes)
  • Series eligibility
  • Braking characteristics

Braking Lab recognizes all 254 iRacing car classes, making it easy to:

  • Filter exercises by car type
  • Find appropriate braking curves for your car
  • Compare braking characteristics across classes

Managing Your Connection

Viewing Connection Status

Check your iRacing connection status:

  1. Go to Settings > Connections
  2. See connection status (Connected/Disconnected)
  3. View last sync time
  4. See authorization expiration date

Disconnecting

To disconnect your iRacing account:

  1. Go to Settings > Connections
  2. Click Disconnect next to iRacing
  3. Confirm disconnection
  4. Your imported data remains but won’t update

Re-authorizing

If your authorization expires:

  1. Go to Settings > Connections
  2. Click Reconnect iRacing
  3. Complete the OAuth flow again
  4. Your data will sync automatically

Troubleshooting

Connection Issues

Can’t connect to iRacing:

  • Ensure you have an active iRacing subscription
  • Check that iRacing’s website is accessible
  • Try clearing your browser cache
  • Disable browser extensions that might block OAuth

Authorization expired:

  • Re-authorize from Settings > Connections
  • Check that your iRacing account is active

Sync Issues

Schedule not updating:

  • Click manual refresh
  • Check your internet connection
  • Verify your iRacing authorization is still valid

Missing series:

  • Some special events may not appear
  • League sessions are not imported
  • Check that you meet license requirements

Data Discrepancies

Track/car data seems wrong:

  • iRacing data updates each season
  • Braking Lab syncs with the latest data weekly
  • Report issues if data remains incorrect
