How the FIA F4 Handles Braking
The FIA F4 features adjustable brake bias that allows drivers to shift braking force distribution between the front and rear axles. Values above 50% send more pressure to the front brakes, increasing front-end stability but raising the risk of front lock-ups. The manual strongly recommends mapping a brake bias control before your first session, enabling real-time adjustments to match evolving track conditions and your driving style.
Braking performance in the F4 is intimately connected to suspension setup, particularly front camber and damper settings. Higher negative camber improves mid-corner grip but reduces longitudinal braking force, necessitating a rearward bias shift to compensate. Front compression damping controls weight transfer speed during braking—stiffer settings provide sharper turn-in response but can compromise ultimate grip, especially on rough surfaces or aggressive kerbs.
The lightweight platform (665kg with driver) responds dramatically to weight transfer, making brake modulation critical. Rear rebound damping can slow the pitch rate as brakes are applied, potentially enhancing stability in heavy braking zones. Evaluate brake bias alongside front camber and the available grip.
Stop Guessing, Start Improving
Many drivers slam the brakes with all their strength, but the fastest modulate pressure, use the brake to rotate the car, and exit as fast as possible. Train that skill here.

General practice tips
Tip 1
Starting point
Start with the official setup and consult the simulator documentation for available controls. Appropriate brake bias depends on the car and conditions.
Tip 2
One variable
Change one setting at a time and compare several laps. Record the change and observed behavior before keeping it.
Tip 3
Comparable conditions
Compare similar fuel loads, tires and track conditions. One lap alone does not establish that a setting is better.
