# Track Maps

> Explore interactive SVG track maps with corner markers, racing lines, and reference points for over 450 iRacing circuits.

Braking Lab includes interactive track maps for over 450 iRacing circuit configurations. These detailed SVG maps help you visualize racing lines, braking zones, and corner reference points.

## Track Map Library

### Available Tracks

The track map library includes:

- **425+ iRacing tracks** covering all categories
- **450+ configurations** including different layouts
- **All track types** - Road, Oval, Dirt Road, Dirt Oval
- **Regular updates** as new content is released

### Track Categories

Browse tracks by category:

| Category | Description |
|----------|-------------|
| Road | Traditional road courses and street circuits |
| Oval | Speedways and short ovals |
| Dirt Road | Off-road and rallycross circuits |
| Dirt Oval | Dirt ovals and short tracks |

## Viewing Track Maps

### Accessing Maps

View track maps from multiple places:

**From Track Notepad**
1. Open a track note
2. The map appears automatically
3. Add pins and annotations

**From My Laps**
1. Open a lap's details
2. Click **View on Map**
3. See your telemetry overlaid

**From iRacing Planner**
1. Browse series or schedules
2. Click the track name
3. View the track map

### Map Controls

Interact with the map:

| Action | How To |
|--------|--------|
| Zoom In | Mouse wheel up / Pinch out |
| Zoom Out | Mouse wheel down / Pinch in |
| Pan | Click and drag / Touch and drag |
| Reset View | Double-click / Double-tap |
| Full Screen | Click expand icon |

### Display Options

Customize what you see:

- **Show/hide corner numbers** - Toggle corner labels
- **Show/hide sector lines** - Display sector boundaries
- **Show/hide pit lane** - Show pit entry and exit
- **Racing line overlay** - Toggle ideal racing line

## Map Features

### Corner Markers

Each corner shows:

- **Corner number** - Official corner designation
- **Braking point** - Where to start braking
- **Turn-in point** - Where to begin turning
- **Apex** - The geometric center of the corner
- **Exit point** - Where to begin accelerating

### Braking Zones

Braking zones are highlighted on the map:

- **Red shading** indicates heavy braking zones
- **Yellow shading** for lighter braking areas
- **Zone numbers** correspond to telemetry data
- **Click zones** to see detailed information

### Sector Boundaries

Track sectors are marked:

- Sector 1, 2, 3 dividing lines
- Start/finish line
- Sector times from imported laps
- Color-coded by your performance

### GPS Racing Line

When viewing imported telemetry:

- Your actual racing line is overlaid
- Color-coded by speed or brake pressure
- Click anywhere on the line for telemetry at that point
- Compare lines between different laps

## Integration with Other Features

### Track Notepad

Track maps power the Track Notepad feature:

- Add visual pins to any location
- Pins link to corner-specific notes
- Draw annotations directly on the map
- Export maps with your notes

## Interactive Features

### Adding Pins

Place visual markers on the map:

1. Right-click (or long-press) on the map
2. Select **Add Pin**
3. Choose a pin type (braking, reference, note)
4. Pin appears at that location
5. Click pin to add notes

### Pin Types

Different pin styles for different purposes:

| Pin Type | Use Case |
|----------|----------|
| Braking | Mark brake reference points |
| Turn-in | Mark turn-in references |
| Apex | Mark apex points |
| Exit | Mark track-out points |
| Note | General reference markers |
| Warning | Hazard or tricky areas |

### Dragging Pins

Reposition pins precisely:

1. Click and hold a pin
2. Drag to new location
3. Release to place
4. Fine-tune with arrow keys

### Connecting Pins

Create visual lines between pins:

1. Select a pin
2. Click **Connect**
3. Click another pin
4. Line appears between them
5. Useful for marking racing lines or distances

## Overlay Options

### Telemetry Overlays

When viewing lap data:

**Speed Overlay**
- Racing line colored by speed
- Red = slow, Green = fast
- Hover for exact values

**Brake Overlay**
- Line colored by brake pressure
- Shows where you brake hardest
- Identify heavy braking zones

**Throttle Overlay**
- Line colored by throttle position
- Shows acceleration zones
- Identify lift areas

### Comparison Overlays

Compare two laps:

1. Select first lap in My Laps
2. Click **Compare on Map**
3. Select second lap
4. Both lines shown on map
5. Color-coded differences highlight variations

## Exporting Maps

### Image Export

Save maps as images:

1. Configure the view you want
2. Click **Export**
3. Choose format (PNG, SVG)
4. Set resolution
5. Download the file

### Print-Ready Export

Create printable track guides:

1. Add all your notes and pins
2. Click **Export for Print**
3. Select paper size
4. Include or exclude elements
5. Generate PDF

### Sharing

Share maps with notes:

1. Click **Share**
2. Choose sharing option
3. Generate shareable link
4. Link includes your pins and notes (for registered users)

- Contact support if track should be available

### Slow Performance

**Map renders slowly:**
- Reduce overlay complexity
- Hide unnecessary elements

- Close other demanding tabs
